What is Alohactober?

I’m so glad you asked! Based on the world wide sensation of Inktober, Alohactober was created as a drawing prompt list to spark personal creativity, try new materials and to ultimately encourage all artists to build a consistent art making habit. Throughout the month of October myself and anyone who wishes to join and follow along will use these prompts to create a habit, expand our art-making practice and fall in love with creating all over again. Please read more below for details on each years theme. Cheers!

2024 - This year’s theme is food! (Some of my faves and some I might never eat again!)

2023 - This years theme is based on Student Suggested Drawing Prompts! These prompts come from past and present students in my Computer Illustration and Animation class. They are fun and silly suggestions to help me get to know them better, but also give me interesting topics that I may not have thought up on my own. Please enjoy the incredibly creative suggestions from my students. Cheers!

** Please read the descriptions of each image to see what the student suggested and how I used that as inspiration to make a drawing!

2022 - Fish found in Hawaii!

2021 - Creepy Crawly Insects

2020 - Fruit!

2019 - Alphabetical Plants!
