โThis piece is how I felt for months last year (but kept hidden from almost everyone). While the brain is my source of creativity and confidence, it is also the home of my mental illness. I love my mind; I am she, she is me. But like most creative individuals, I went through a rough time in 2020 where I felt completely out of ideas and I was worried I wouldn't create anything new or real or authentic ever again. The apricot blossoms in this drawing represent doubt and distrust. How can I know my brain will pull me through? How can I believe in myself when nothing is coming to mind? How can I continue to be creative?

Luckily since then I've been able to keep making new things and have started several new projects I'm passionate about, but, there was a time I really felt I was at my end creatively. And it was scary. I'm glad I stuck it out, and hopefully in the future my brain will remember this and remind me that if I go through these feelings again, I'll know, this too shall pass. Hang in there friends, the best is yet to come. You got this.โ

In case you are new to this series, the Memento Mori drawings are about the duality of human nature; the nuance and subtlety of our seemingly conflicting emotions and how we will attempt to grieve and grow through the Coronavirus pandemic.
