โThe brain is symbolic of our consciousness and subconscious. Our thoughts and cognitive. How we receive and emit information. The brain is a reminder of mindfulness. The brain is the beginning and end of our universe (what we think is our only basis of perceiving and understanding our reality).

Poppies have long been used as a symbol of sleep, peace, and death: Sleep because the opium extracted from them is a sedative, and death because of the common blood-red color of the red poppy in particular. Poppies used as emblems on tombstones symbolize eternal sleep.

The symbolism of this meaningful flower doesnโt end there, though. It can also be used as a symbol of imagination and messages delivered in dreams. This drawing is all about finding balance; using our emotions and imagination to interpret the world around us and to counteract the negativity (or to at least help us better understand it).โ

In case you are new to this series, the Memento Mori drawings are about the duality of human nature; the nuance and subtlety of our seemingly conflicting emotions and how we will attempt to grieve and grow through the Coronavirus pandemic.

P.s. the poppy is also the birthday flower for the month of August, which is my birthday month!
